new folder names in finder

In finder suddenly I have folders named SD5 , SD6, SD7, SD8. Why has this happened?

Suddenly? Did you see it happen? If so, which apps did you have open at the time?

Which folder are they in?

What were they prior to the change?

What sort of files do they contain?

Does this happen to be in the Finder sidebar? SD5, SD6, etc. are the names of the labels in the sidebar. Changing those values in the appropriate file though requires elevated privileges. What have you done recently that required you to enter your password?
