How do I get past a transfer error?

I feel so inept... Can't even complete my transfer of files from PC to my new MacBook, it keeps saying "an error occured while preparing for transfer" Then it only gives me the option to quit. And in the meantime, I can't get my MacBook off the screen "transferring infromation" and the words "Cleaning Up"

I'm stuck - Eager to solve this and get MacBook FULLY dialed so ... maybe I can start loving it? Thanks!
