Old Macbook HD on a New Macbook Pro?

I was wondering if there was some way that I could use my old Macbook HD as an external for my New Macbook Pro... is there any software that I could download or do I just need to format the HD so that I can access the files?

If your old HD is from a MacBook (Intel Mac) it should already be formatted HFS. All you need is an external case.
