I'm an old Outlook user. Trying to decide whether to use Mail or Outlook for email on my new MBA. Working with Mail for a while but not sure yet.

I find that when I attach a pdf for example to an outgoing e mail an image appears in the body of my outgoing e mail. I've worked with Mail preferences but no luck. I want to be able to attach files of all types without the attachment appearing in the body of my outgoing e mail. I think that the recipients do not see the image of the attachment in the body of their incoming e mail. Still - this is an annoyance to me. Anyway to change this so that I see an icon rather than an image in my sent mail?

This happens only when a PDF has one page. If you right click on it you can select show as icon

Never mind - I see.
Is there no way to change the preferences so that all attachments appear as an icon?

Also, I just tried to attach a small video file. Same thing - shows up as the image in my outgoing e mail. Is there a way to change this so it appears as an icon by default?

Or, switch to Outlook which I already own for other reasons - I need to run Word.

I do use Mail but this is one of the things I don't like about Mail. Overall I think it is a good app but there are a few things like this I would like changed about it. I've been waiting for Apple to give us the permanent option for this feature.
