I have a new MacBook Air, running OS X 10.7.3.
When I keep an alphabetical key depressed on the keyboard, only one character comes up on the screen. All other keyboards I have, will repeat the character if the key is kept depressed. Is there some way to set up my new keyboard to act in that manner? Otherwise I will simply have to relatedly press the key, to repeat a character.
i.e To get a string of h characters such as hhhhhhhhhh, I have to press the h key 10 times, instead of simply holding the h key down and releasing it when enough h characters are entered.
Did not find any help in Preferences, Keyboard.
Many thanks, an old guy. :|

Your Mac's Specs
13" Late 2011 MBP,iPad '3' 32gb,iPhone4 32gb
All you have to do is type this into the Terminal (found in Your Hard Drive —> Applications —> Utilities) and enter the following:

defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool false

Press return and now your keys will repeat as normal. If you change your mind, just change "false" to "true" and you'll have things back the way Apple intended...

Disclaimer - I won't be held responsible for anything that goes south after you've messed with Terminal. ;)
