Hi everyone,
I just bought a new macbook pro 13“ late 2011 with an i5 2.4GHz and 500Gb HDD
And I am excited, I have only one question, now that I bought it what do you suggest I buy with it, like accessories and other stuff?
And if you can write why would I need it :)

Regards

Hi Kax. It's hard to say what accessories you might want without knowing more about you and your computing needs.

I want to know anything that would be helpful such as „What are you using to take care of your Macbook?"

There is something I recommend to everyone to buy for their laptop. It is a Radtech Screen Saver. It is a cloth that is fit to your screen size that just sits on your keyboard for when you close the lid and throw the laptop in a bag, the keyboard keys do not make marks on your screen. This is even more helpful if you have other things in the bag. They also make sleeves out of the same cloth. I bought the screen savers for both of my parent's laptops as well as for my sister. It goes without saying I have one for my MBP and I have a sleeve as well for when I have to bring my MBP to work and share the backpack with another laptop.
MacBook Screen Protector, LCD Display Cleaner, Keyboard Cover for MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, PowerBook, iBook & PC

I also recommend a mouse. I have a MagicMouse for general computing while on the go when I dont feel like using the trackpad. I have a Logitech gaming wireless mouse for gaming.

That looks that it would come in handy. I will think about buying one with a sleeve.
But regarding the mouse I think not caz i am very satisfied with trackpad.

Thank you a lot Deckyon ;)

Generally I recommend avoiding running out and buying a lot of extra stuff -- peripherals or software -- unless there is a demonstrated need, at least in the early days of owning a Mac. Your Mac has an awful lot of great stuff included, most people barely scratch the surface of it.

You might want to have a look at the essay I link to below.

I suppose in terms of generic accessories, I'd suggest the following:

- Powered USB Hub for connecting all your peripheral devices
- External Hard Drive (or Time Capsule) for Time Machine Backups

If you only need the MBP to be mobile for the occasional trip, and it'll mostly be sitting in one place like mine, I'd suggest:

- An external monitor or two (the second can be connected via a Diamond BVI195)
- A standard keyboard and mouse
- A Thundercat to stand guard when you're not there. :)

Good luck,

Z

Thanks, Shikarnov
I already have a powered usb hub but I will buy a 1TB for Time Machine backups, and my mbp will not be setting in one place so I won’t buy any of the other 3 you suggested ;)

A nice case if you transport it and I prefer Brenthaven.
