Sorry for another post on .mts, but I read the sticky post and it didn't help.

I'm having all kinds of problems using .mts files from my Canon Vixia HFR20. I've tried just copying the .mts files to my drive and converting them using assorted converters, but I've found nothing that does it very well and it leaves the .mts files separated. (I guess there's a file size limit or something because my videos invariably get split up into several 2.05 GB files).

From what I have been able to find, it sounds like using the "Import from camera" option in iMovie is the best bet, but iMovie won't recognize my camera when I plug it in. I also tried copying the whole memory card folder structure to hdd and using "import-Camera archive" but it just kept saying this is not a camera archive folder.

Note that I'm running iMovie '11. Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you tried MPEG Streamclip. I have used it with several of those type files and it usually works. From there it can be converted to something iMovie can use. Also give VLC a try. I think I have fed both programs files up to around 6 GB.

Does the camera have a memory card..? If so...forget hooking up "the camera" instead, insert the SD card, open iMovie, and select import files...choose the SD card...the files will then be recognized and you will be able to sort and import.Do not drill down through the file structure...let iMovie retrieve the files ( from the card ).
