I have a dual core Intel MacPro with 2GB of memory. I am running OS X 10.6.8.
I have had no luck getting FCP to find my camera. I was wondering if it could be because my version of Final Cut Pro is so old its FCP 5.1.4? or I need more memory?
I get the message:
I have spent a long time reading all kinds of suggestions on different forums and none of them have worked.
The camera is picked up in Quicktime 10 through the "new movie recording" function so my mac is finding it, but not Final Cut.
I have tried using both a firewire 400 and a firewire 800 and tried both of my firewire 400 ports (which work with other devices anyway).
The camera is set to output HDV and the i-link conv. is switched off.
I have tried switching camera off and closing FCP, starting camera and then loading FCP, this hasnt worked.
Settings on Final Cut Pro are:
Summary: Seq.present - HDV 1080i50
Capture preset - HDV
Device control preset - Sony HDV 1080i50 Firewire
Video Playback (if use) - Digital cinema desktop Prewiew
Audio Playback - Default
Sequence preset: HDV 1080i50
Capture preset: HDV
Device control preset: Sony HDV 1080i50 Firewire
Sequence settings:
General: Frame size: 1440x1080 (16:9)
Pixel aspect ratio: HD 1440x1080
Field dominance: None
Compressor: HDV 1080i50
Audio: 48kHz, 16bit, stereo
Any ideas? Thanks

I get the message:
Unable to Initialize capture device
Device is not connected or the capture preset is not setup correctly. You may still log offline clips. This might also happen if you play DV footage in an HDV device.
