Enjoying the mac but the list of things i am missing from a PC is getting longer. Have some photos that I do not want popping up in iPhoto if I am out in public or other people are looking over my shoulder. Have loaded the pics as files which can be accessed in finder and preview but miss being able to look at them as a slideshow or viewing them sequentially as your would in windows. Is there a program that works on mac as a simple view and slideshow program.

You can use the "Preview.app" located in your applications folder for that. If the photos are copied to your hard drive (not in the iPhoto library) you can click on them and they'll open with Preview. You can also use Preview to create a slideshow.

Create another iPhoto Library, and keep your confidential photos in that one.
To create a new photo library:
Quit iPhoto.

Hold down the Option key as you open iPhoto.

In the window that appears, click Create New.

Type a name and choose a location to store the new photo library.

Click Save.

The iPhoto Source list shows your new, empty photo library. Any photos you import are added to this library.

You can switch to another library you’ve created at any time.

To switch between photo libraries:
Quit iPhoto.

Hold down the Option key as you open iPhoto.

Select the library you want to switch to.

Click Choose.

To move photos from one library to another:
Export the photos from one library.

This doesn’t delete the photos from the library.

Switch to the library you want to add them to. (See task above.)

Import the photos into the new library.;)

There is a built-in facility called "QuickLook" that works great for doing a quick scan or slideshow of a folder of photos without loading a program.

Open folder, select all (command-a), hit the spacebar.

Or you could use iPhoto's "Hide Photo" option.

PS, are you going to show us the photos? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

Thanks for the help. Is there away to add more than one photo at a time to the slideshow in preview?

Select all that you want with the mouse, Right/Ctrl click and select Open With...Preview. Select Slideshow from the View Menu.

However, Quicklook as described by chas_m works just as well and quicker.
