I'mtrying to upload an image to a corporate website. It tells me I'm limited to a name of no more than 30 characters.

Well, my MAC has the name as "users/myname/desktop/picturename.gif"

All of that stuff regarding the username and desktop is killing me!

What can I do to shorten the file name?

Shorten the name manually. What you listed above is the file path.

The file name is 1.gif

The fooolish program the website host use reads the entire file path as part of its name.

Ouch, that is not good....

I suppose you could simply move the image to the /users folder and upload from there...
