Can't add any more transitions in iMovie

Project is fifty minutes long. I am unable to drag clips or transitions I to project. I get a hand icon but it doesn't drag over into the project window. I can highlight a clip and then hit "e" and the clip will come into the project, so that is a workaround, but it doesn't work with the transitions, only clips.

Any ideas?
