Check the SL disc - it should be on there.

I got my computer off CL and the original owner did not have the original disks :p Is there a place I can download XCode 3 from for free? $100 for an Apple developer license doesn't seem like a practical purchase for a highschool freshman who is just starting out with this stuff :p

When you login to ADC, head over to the "iOS Dev Center." On that page, there is a download link for Xcode 3 underneath the Xcode 4 one.

There is an Xcode 4.2 that runs on Snow Leopard, but it looks like you need to be a paid developer to download it. That seems a bit silly.

I thought a version 4 was available for $5 via the Mac app store too. EDIT: Oh, I see they only have the current version which is limited to Lion.

XCode 4 is free but requires OSX 10.7 to run. I will try to make an Apple Developer account and download XCode 3.

Way... way too many specs to list.

I agree, this was a really weird decision. They're REALLY pushing Lion, my guess is they simply want to STOP all legacy support going forward.

There are two iTunes processes: iTunes and iTunes Helper. Open up Activity Monitor (/Applications/Utilities), find those two in the list and quit them. Try again after doing that.

Yep, this is a fairly common issue.
