I need help with my new MacBook!!

Hi,

I have just got a new Mac..and there are a few things I can't work out that were so easy with my old laptop...1stly, why can't I move or copy a downloaded file onto my external hard drive...I am not very techy so would really appreciate any help...

Most likely your external HD is formatted to NTFS. If so, you can read from but not write to it.
You either need to reformat the drive or install an NTFS driver. Paragon software is one source.

Try Thunderbolt

Thunderbolt is on all new MacBooks and is used to transfer data at high speeds and also connect displays. You could look on the apple store for external hardrives that use thunderbolt or wifi for whatever fits your needs.
