I don't see a way to delete this post though I've found the answer to my questions. So I'm editing the post to say the question is phrased wrong in title of post; what I really needed was to find out how to share folders on LAN. A clear answer is here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1549. Posting this in case there are other newbies having trouble finding their way around Lion.
