removing hard disk from desktop

is there any way to remove the hard drive icon from the desktop? I like a clean desktop with no icons and thats the only one left...thanks!!

Sure, you can do that. Go to the menu bar, Prefs. -> General (tab) , then uncheck Hard disks.
