G'day and welcome to the forums.
Buy an external mains powered case that handles a 3.5" SATA drive, they are pretty cheap, and pop the hard drive in there and connect by USB or Firewire. If it is powering up and no screen, try removing and cleaning the graphics card, and re-seating. If a fan is built onto the card, does it actually still work? Otherwise the card may be shot.
