Hi,

I'm thinking of switching to a mac for my laptop. The only thing holding me back is that I need to use a Cantonese Phonetic IME that is windows based:

Cantonese Phonetic IME - Cantonese Pinyin Input Software -

Is there a way to run this IME on a mac, or do I need to run windows on the laptop?

I'm considering purchasing the macbook air, so hard drive space will likely be limited, and I'd hate to have to install all of windows just to type in Cantonese.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Also, without getting too technical, I use the Yale method for reading and writing in Cantonese. I do not want to switch to Jyutping because all of my reference books are in Yale. I'm also hesitant to switch to a different Yale system because I'm very familiar with the CPIME.

Mac OS X supports both Pinyin Simplified and the Pinyin Traditional IME. As far as your other question regarding the Yale method - sorry, I can't answer that.

What I suggest is actually testing a Mac (perhaps at your local Apple store) and have them demo changing languages for you.
