Hello all

I am looking in to switching from a PC to a Mac but unsure of of what set-up to go for.

Ideally i would like a large screen for home use and portability for travel social work etc.
I plan on using the set-up mainly for photos, music and design/engineering/architectural type of software.

My thoughts for a set-up are as follows;

1. 27" imac, ipad and iphone
2. 27" screen, mac book pro & iphone
3. 27" screen, mac book air & iphone.

all to have separate keyboard and mouse for home use.

Can anyone recommend either of these or advice an a different setup.

The large screen would be for watching movies and looking at detailed design info etc.

Many thanks
Matt

On sheer practicality, option 2 would probably be your best bet as the iPad doesn't quite match the MacBook in functionality.

You'd also be able take your work with you, which may not be as straightforward with the iPad.

If I had the cash, option 2 would be my choice.

Should state that when i say work i mean that in the loosest of senses. The Portable device would be mainly used for films, music and photos when travelling.

I see your point with option 2, if money wasnt an issue.

I'd go with option #2.

If the most work related action you are liable to do on your portable device is to take a few notes, then I would reccomend option #1.

Since you appear to need a desktop, the iMac 27 is a better desktop than a MBP and Monitor combination. Also, IMO the iPad is without peer as a portable media consumption device.

Option 2 if you need those programs on the road if not option 1.
