MP4 movie cannot be played

I down loaded a movie, started watching about half of it (on itunes), paused it, and decided to add a movie cover to it, i found a good image so i opened the info window on itunes and added the image, and nothing happen. So i opened it again, and did the same thing, after i did that itunes froze up and the movie would not play after that (quicktime, vlc, or anything else.). I have never ran into this problem before, hoping you guys can help me out.
Running snow leopard, and itunes 10.5

after restarting my computer, and trying to open it in quicktime it told me that it could not be played because there was an "invalid movie atom"
