JPG to PNG help

I need to convert a JPG image to PNG, easy enough, but with size specs: 864 x 486 -- how can this be done?

Why not simply open your editor of choice, resize it and save it as a PNG?

I tried that using Aperture, but sizing was limited to dpi, unless I'm missing something?

I found an app that works well looking at a previous thread called ImageWell. I used the free trial and it worked great, but will probably have to buy it eventually, so I'm still looking for a free converter.

There's always ImageMagick. It's a command line tool but can do a thousand different things to pictures. Download and install/usage instructions here.

Well, eureka, even *I* was able to find the "adjust size" pull down, and lo and behold, it worked, nothing to download, no muss no fuss. You know, this is why I joined this forum: smart people sharing simple, elegant solutions -- thanks Bob!
