A few newbie questions:

-How do I find/search for files and misplaced applications?

-How do I get to the administrator event log?

-Is there a command prompt screen and a list of commands?

Thanks.

the find feature can be used in finder by going to file find

I don't know if there is actually an administrator event log but you can go to the console in utilities and it has the logs.

The two things that you can use that are like the command prompt from windows (im assuming you are switcher and thinking of MS-DOS cmd prompt) are console and terminal which are both in the utilities folder

Find by Pressing Apple-F in the finder.
