Apple TV remote problem!

So I was trying to reset my apple tv by holding the enter and menu buttons, but that somehow made it to where when I try to use the remote, it doesn't do anything but make the white light flash about 4 times.
I've tried changing the batteries, and un-pairing and pairing the remote with no luck.
What am I missing here? Please help!

i had this problem before. i started to use my iPhone to control the ATV for a while. i replaced the batteries even though i could see the light flashing on the box but it wasn't actually doing anything.

not sure what changed but it started working again a few hours later after i got the hang of the phone

Have you tried restoring the ATV using iTunes?

Worth a shot.
