I need to erase my Time Machine hard drive for various reasons (it's a 3rd party hard drive not the APPLE MAC official one).

Can I just erase the drive like I would any other drive or do I need to do something special? What's on the drive is backed up etc so not worried about that side of things...

Thanks in advance

Use Disk Utility and erase.
Yea, just open Disk Utility and format/erase the drive in there.

Then if you want to use it for Time Machine again, just open up the Time Machine in the System Preference screen and select it as the designated backup drive for Time Machine.
