leave on or turn off?

13" laptop 2009, 2.26GHZ intel core 2 duo, 4GB ram, iphone 4gs 64GB
Is it safe to leave my laptop on all day? Will it overheat? I have one of those cooling boards at home but I am at work and forgot it :(

Mine is on all day/night. I just close the lid when I won't be at my desk for a while.

You could - but why would you? Why not just close the lid and sleep it? One of the great experiences for me with OS X has always been how quickly it sleeps and awakes.
