Hello. I am new to the Mac world. I've been a die hard PC user my whole life, but decided to give the MacBook Pro a try. So I went online yesterday and purchased one. It's in the delivery truck right now and I should get it later today. I would have gone to a physical store, but the closest one to me is 2 hours away.

I'm not sure if it will already have Lion installed, but if not, should I go ahead and upgrade it to Lion since it will be free? I've heard mixed reviews about it, either people really hate it or love it. I'm going to be a casual user on my MB (browse web, store photos, videos, music) since I do most of my work on my work PC. I am not familiar with Mac at all so I'm still in the learning stages. I would appreciate your input. Thank you!

Welcome to the forums.

All new Apple machines will have Lion pre-installed, so you should be fine.

You will love Lion after a short learning curve. It's pretty awesome. I have never quite figured out how Apple keeps making my computer time more productive *and* more enjoyable at the same time, but they keep on doing it.

While I'm sure there are people with legitimate issues with Lion, most of the "complaints" I've seen are basically old-man "I don't like change" grumblings. For more of that sort of thing, visit Facebook this week! :)

The best thing for you having Lion installed is there isn't any change for you. As chasm stated most complaints are people not liking change, therefore bc you havnt had the joy of using SnowLeopard having Lion straight is only one learning curve and not a "have to adapt to a new OS" for you.
Hope you enjoy your new Mac and a awesome OS

Cheers

I am loving my new mbp so far! Wow I cannot believe how I didn't switch sooner. It's so fast and easy to use. This OS is great, I'm very happy with my purchase!
