I've never had this issue before. I would open up my mac and it would automatically connect to my home network as well as other networks. Now when I open it up it has my manually click my router and then it says " it seems to be working fine " but it won't connect unless I do that every time. I did install Lion about a week ago. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank Eric

Two things to try:

1. Wait. Don't be impatient, just give it a (full) minute or so. There might be a lot of competing networks around for it to sort through. See if that helps.

2. Go to System Prefernces -> Network -> Advanced (click on the padlock to "unlock") -> Wi-Fi and delete networks you never connect to anymore, or just delete the whole lot and then re-add your home network. Restart.
