compressor wont let me change settings

Hi,

I recently got a new mac and a new copy of final cut studio 3. everythings fine so far but when trying to convert a video to a custom h.265 for youtube use i found that i cant change the audio and video settings in the inspector window.

i get this message:

Alert an error occurred while trying to change the setting.

I very much need to compress video in the future. please somebody help.
