Hi all,
At fifty six, I have just changed over to Mac and am glad to have found this forum.I have been on a bit of a learning curve since I bought last Fri and I have learnt a lot here.Discovered I had to format my external drives in order to move stuff from Mac to it amongst other little nuggets !
Although on it's last legs, the PC will be kept for DVD viewing but it has to be moved away to another part of the house and will be away from router( it's too wrecked to justify a plug in internet wireless) so I have been hanging on to it until I am sure everything is across. I was about to take it away last night but realized that programs such as those for converting flac to mp3 might not be available for Mac and maybe I should install them on the PC for those odd occasions.Download Helper for Firefox didn't seem to settle on the Mac so I am looking at Keepvid but not sure, any opinions't?I have lost an image manipulation programs such as Gimp and was wondering if anyone could recommend freeware for that sort of thing?
Anyway, to cut the now long story short, I decided that maybe I would ask is there anything anyone regrets not doing before disposing of their PC? Also, any programmes, especially music or image converter that people would now say that I should load on the PC seeing it will be a bit of grief dragging PC, screen, keyboards etc back up the stairs to this room especially when you have a really bad back. Also any advice no matter how seemingly small is really welcome. Thanks

The recommendation I would make is to pull your old PC hard drive and stick it away for safekeeping until you are certain you have transferred everything. Your Mac should be able to read files from it (via external drive case or I/O cable).
Also, I don't use Gimp, but I believe a Mac OS version is available.

Welcome to the Forum BTW

If the PC is not to old I would keep it and install Ubuntu 11.04 just to have a secondary working computer.
