I've tried a few players so far on my MBP and decided that I like VLC the best.

Is there a way to make VLC the default player for all vid formats?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have to start by saying I've not seen any reason to do what you're suggesting. With Flip4Mac WMV Player and Perian installed I can simply let video play in whatever player it wants to, only manually directing one or two file types to VLC.

If you want to make it the default for everything, however, you'll need to individually set it as the default for each file type you want it to play, and change the system preference for DVDs to it as well. Not terribly difficult.
