Hello,

I don't know where to write this thread, so I am just writing it here..

I would really like help in this matter, I am getting an iMac 27" (8gb ram, 1tb, highest i7 processor & highest graphics card) in may 2012.

I have a 5 Years old toshiba(not dying from old age only) & I want to replace it by mbp. I don't know the best specificatios for me. I don't travel alot and I don't work outdoors alot so my entire work would be on iMac and the mbp would be for portability purposes in and outside home.

I use photoshop, may use 3d max on a year or something, anything stronger than that would be in the far future(no need to think about it now)...

Please don't recommend iPad, I already have one plus no photoshop for it anyway.

My dad insist that I can get a non-apple i7 along with the iMac laptop instead of getting i5 mbp laptop along with the iMac.

What's your opinion?

I'd go with the 15" MBP with the best specs you can afford.

Thank you,
Reading your opinion & other reviews as well, I think I'll do exactly what you said.. But I'll wait for Christmas discounts.

What Christmas discounts? Apple does not discount their wares as do some department stores and other merchants. The only discount you'll likely see is the $100 iTunes gift card rebate program which is in effect right now.

Something like that, the Mac would be cheaper in US compared to my country due to customs, taxes & seller's being greedy. So my friend would help me get it cheaper & with more upgrades cause I'll have more options to choose from;D
