Playing mvk files and using iPad as remote

Hey, so I know it's possible to play mvk hd downloaded movies with a jail broken apple tv. My question is can I still use my iPad/iPhone as remote to sort through all my movies and play them from these devices. I was just wondering because I recently starting using the remote app with my iTunes music and I find it extremely cool haha. Thanks

If the answer is no then isn't just as easy to just stream through my xbox?
