• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hi everybody,

I have this strange issue. I had some NTSC footage of my own and made two DVDs on Toast 9. I burned DVD 1 ok, but by mistake I burned DVD 2 as a PAL DVD. Both are region free DVDs.

I decided to check them out before sending them. On my computer they both play fine (15" macbook pro, Intel core 2 duo 2.53Ghz, OSX 10.5.8 on DVD player 5.1.1 - Region set at 1).

I tried them on an iMac and DVD 1 (NTSC) plays fine, but DVD 2 (PAL) only plays the audio ok and shows a green screen. (21" iMac, 3.06Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, OSX 10.6.2 on DVD player 5.2 - Region set at 4 )

Any of you Mac gurus have any idea what could be the cause?

Thanks in advance, cheers!
PF
