Sony Handycam no audio

Hi i have downloaded a recoded video from my sony handycam on to my white applemac 10.4.11 powerpc G5. The video is there but no audio. I have checked sound input and output that were fine. I have downloaded onto my PC to check sound was recorded and it is ok there. Then placed recorded item onto a USB drive and imported onto my mac that way still same problem. Has any one got any ideas? do i update the codec like on a PC ?

Thanks for your help. I thought it might be down to the codec, suppose will have to try different conversions until i get the right one.Do you now how to just download different codecs for a mac like on a PC. When i downloaded one called k-lite on my laptop it helped big time for a lot of things
