Hey everyone,

I'm trying to install Windows XP Service Pack 3 on my Macbook Pro using Bootcamp. After Bootcamp instructs me to insert the Windows disk and click start installation, my Macbook restarts, then I get a black screen saying that a bootable disk is not found, press any key to continue. The disk is in the drive, and when I press a key nothing happens. I'm not sure what the issue is.

I looked though the Bootcamp instructions but couldn't find anything that could fix my problem.

Thank you!

Welcome to the Mac Forums.

What is the year and model of your MBP? (XP is not supported on late model MacBook Pro machines.)

Does my Macbook Pro not support XP? I really don't want to buy another operating system if XP will work.

I'm having the same problem on my 2010 Macbook Pro, but I'm using an installation disc for Windows 7. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What kind of Windows 7 disk is it? It has to be a full version of Windows 7 32 or 64 bit and either an OEM System Builder's version or MS Boxed.

I am having the same issue. I go through bootcamp with WIN7 then get the "Windows failed to start a recent hdw or softw change might be to cause..." so then I try to use WINVISTA disc i had put away and same error plus others sometimes like "cannot load from disc code 5"

I've used bootcamp before on my Imac and installed this same WINVISTA a few years ago with no issue, it's just since I've tried WIN7.

I even tried wiping my mac clean and repairing disc... still same issue :( any help here would be hot

Your MBP is 64bit. That is where your problem may lie if it is late 2010 model or later.
