Lion download too fat? There's Apple store (WiFi) for that.

That Apple, a company known for wanting to make thing easy for consumers is suggesting such a clunky solution, suggests that it’s well aware of the broadband problems facing a subset of the population and it can’t afford to ignore them.
They could always just make an optical version available... ;)

Here's hoping that recognition that there is a problem for a significant enough portion of the Mac user base is enough to get them to make an optical/USB version. But, like every other discussion of this issue, I'll just wait and see.

Most people who live in a remote location don't even have an Apple Store an hour away or more. Apple is way too picky about where they build their Apple Stores.

That's just because Toledo is too rural :p

I was hoping they would release it on a flash drive like for the MBA.

Too many...
Why don't they just redo the flash stick? That worked well, as I know it at least.

Well, I live in brazil, and afaik we do not have an Apple Store! so...?????

Question, this apple decision is because of the drives they want to remove in future or a green thinking thing?

Agree vansmith. Bit hard to hulk Mac Pro from Down Under where we do not have Computerworld, even to Toledo! No Apple store within 300 miles, and the local Reseller, who mainly sells PC's, will have no idea even if allowed to do this and then it is 90 minutes each way! Tried to convince me Mac Pro's do not have PCI-E slots and after half an hour arguing, admitted he had never seen a Mac Pro thought I meant a MacBook Pro!

Well, if Apple isn't going to build an Apple Store in our areas, then let's go to Cupertino and steal some pieces from their spaceship and build our Apple Stores.

That's one idea. Better yet - just send me the money and I'll fly to Australia and personally install it. :) Business class only.

Seriously, though, I figure the $100 difference between Lion and Leopard is enough for most people to travel to your nearest major city and find a wi-fi hotspot for a couple of hours.

Or do what I'm planning to do...just stay with Snow Leopard

Mcdonalds has free wifi. I understand a lot of these complaints. My parents still have dial-up and my not have high sped before my 4 year old is in junior high.
Apple stores are few and far between, 2 hours for me, not arguing that point either.
BUT most everybody in the states has a Mickey D's in a driving distance with free wifi. I know you'll say that you would lOok dumb with a MacPro or an iMac in McD, but I'd stick up for you!!
Barnes n noble
Best buy
Books a million
And some hospitals I've visited have free wifi.

I need to get dressed up to visit the Apple store. I have to get a new suit, not sure I'm ready for that.
