• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Please see the attached picture. This color band shows up very briefly twice in the clip. It does not show up in the original MTS file, nor when that file is transcoded to a WMV file on my PC. I am thinking it is a Mac issue, happening when I was uploading the MTS file to FCP from my external hard drive. All other files that I uploaded from the same Private folder as this file came out fine. Anyone seen this before? Thanks.

It's a momentary misreading of the data, probably due to hard drive speed, RAM or some other factor.

I am thinking that might not be it. Because I transcoded the same footage a second time and this occured at the same spot and for the same duration, suggesting that it might be a fatal misreading of this particular portion of the video due to the fact that it is transferring directly from an MTS file. I have been told on another board, that the problem might be the fact that FCP does not play well with MTS. They advised transcoding the MTS file into prores 422 first, before doing the log and transfer. Now, my next step is to figure out how to do that.
