• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hi!
I am making a film to show at the last day of school term for my students and would like to make the images that i have added change to the beat of the music in the movie. I have found that 0.4s is too fast, and 0.6s is too slow. However, imovie is not allowing me to change the duration of the clip to 0.5s. Do I conclude that one is only allowed to use even numbered increments? That doesn't make sense!
Frustrating!!!!http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/mac_images/images/smilies/Confused.png

After a bit of experimentation, it looks like that's the way it is. As you say, strange.

iMovie is not geared toward beat-matching sync. It's a consumer editing app designed for quick, fun videos (and can go a little beyond that, but not much). It's awesome for what it is, but not the right tool to make a "music video" that needs beat-matching.

The quick-and-dirty way to fix this is to throw the music into Garageband and slow it down (or speed it up) a touch, then re-save and use the "new" version.
