Games

I have recently purchased the new mac book pro 13". I have looking around and have seen many mixed opinions on the intel HD 3000 graphics chip. Im not much of a gamer, i got the mac mainly for logic pro, however i do want some games like dawn of war 2 and starscart etc. ( i have already installed windows via boot camp) i was just wondering if games like that would acctually work with the intel HD 3000?
can anyone help?

I can run Starcraft II on my 4 year old veteran Macbook (albeit with low graphics) so you should be fine.

The Intel HD 3000 built in GPU should be able to run most games adequately. By "adequately" I mean those games that are graphic intensive will have to be run on the low side just as member Virgeist stated.

For everything else such as - photos, publishing, light graphic work, the HD 3000 will hold its own.

The 3000 chipset is so far ahead of my Blackbook's chipset (Intel GMA950) I can hardly even imagine it. For all non-gaming purposes it should be MORE than adequate, as I'm running Photoshop (CS3) on this old thing and it works fine.

For 3D gaming, from what I've been able to gather all but the most graphically intense stuff should work fine. A number of very high-end games require a "real" NVidia or ATI Radeon HD card but I've not played any of those games (no interest, really) so that's been a non-issue for me. I think it's best to assume that the 3000 chipset (all video chipsets that aren't genuine discreet cards) will have no trouble with casual games of all sorts, but that the very high-end games require serious dedicated (and large amounts of RAM) video cards.
