As the title says, what music do you listen to to escape from (or to) life? What makes you sing out loud? What makes your heart race, blood boil, cause chills to run down your spine?

For me, Celtic/Gaelic folk songs and (suprize) gutteral, tribal drums and pipes (check out Albannach Music). I also get lost in good ole American blues.

Depends on the mood. Sometimes it has to be loud and sometimes it has to be calmer. In either case, I have to go with Thrice.

I love their older stuff. For me Avenged Sevenfold, Dream Theater, or anything that is heavy and not lil wayne or Drake. LOL

depends on what my mood is. Usually, if I want to escape, Japanese meditation music, with the Shakuhachi bamboo flute. I just love the sound of it.

Metal and Rock only here. Anything from AOR/Hard Rock (**** Yankees, Ted Nugent) to Blues Rock (Pat Travers, John Norum) to Ultra heavy Tech Death Metal (Nile, Origin).
I would say to truly escape though, I alwys go to some of my favorite thrash from the 80's (Whiplash, Forbidden) or to Lamb Of God for a more modern escape.

I do like some old skoool rap/hip hop to an extent, but don't listen to it regularly, and not this new (c)rap stuff, and I hate chart/pop music with an unrivaled passion.

Edit; The band are called Dam n Yankees, *** with this draconian editing!

soon to be another iMac owner
When I was younger..a teen in the 90s all I listened to was metal, classic rock and certain types of rap(mostly anything on the death row label)

But the older I get the more I see myself branching out and giving more types of music a try.

As far as what I listen to when I relax..nothing specific as long as I like it,the more I'm into a song the more it relaxes me
