Can I ask an incredibly stupid question? I just turned on the iPod application to listen to my iTunes music...and now I can't get it to stop! If I hit the button to exit, the music continues to play!

I read somewhere else that the only way to get it to stop is to hit the "pause" button....but that can't be right, can it? That doesn't turn it off, it just pauses it.

Help!?!? Thanks!!!!

Yes, that is correct.

To quit the app entirely - same as you would any other app - double tap the home button, then hold one of the apps on the bottom until they start jiggling and hit the minus button in the iPod icon.

Thanks!

You can also double click the home button, swipe all the way to the left and you'll be presented with some audio controls including a pause button. It doesn't quit it but at least you can stop the music.

Isn't pausing essentially the same as stopping it? Why the need to shut it down completely?

No closing the app it is not taking away from memory and by itself is not much
but along with a lot of other apps its not as speedy start closing the ones you left open and watch how the speed returns.

I like that feature actually. I only use the music part of my ipod touch 4g on odd occasions, and rend to listen to podcasts...

I can pause, do something else, use it on occasions to do other things, and then when I want to listen to a podcast again, say 2 weeks later, I just plug in the earphones and its EXACTLY WHERE I LEFT IT :)
