I work for a Veterans' Retirement Home here in Montana. I was wondering if there are any restrictions as far as using the Apple TV to play movies for the residents in our work place. Most of the time it would be only a few residents viewing. Has anyone here researched this before?

I would think if the movies are legally purchased (say via iTunes) that playing them for a group and not for profit would be fine. Then again, if it's inside of a private business who is going to know?

We would probably be using Netflix and YouTube mostly. We are a state operated business.

I don't see any issues myself, but who knows? If you were charging admission it'd be different but if you (or someone else) is paying to watch the movies legally does the audience size matter?

I know Govt agencies can be a bit worrisome about these things though and perhaps your best bet is consult the states legal dept. about this.

Thanks for the help. I'll have them call the proper agency.

Yeah you may need to find out. I know most public broadcast, even for a non-profit is disallowed over a certain number of people. Best to call them and confirm.
