splitting video into parts using zip and rar

hi guys,
i recently downloaded a video that was split into parts by zipping them. what i mean is they havent actually edited the video and split it but split it into like 4 parts whilst zipping it.

i know that you can do this in windows using win zip and winrar but was wondering if it is possible to do this on a mac also?
