I replaced an old router on our home network with a new Apple Time Capsule (swtiching to Apple as old devices burn out). Everything works, but my Vista PC shows only the ISP's modem/router on its network map rather than the TC. The PC lists the TC and other devices on the network, and can access the TC's hard drive in Windows Explorer.
We have a simple network design:
Modem/router (supplied by ISP) to DSL line.
Time Capsule wired to Modem.
My Vista PC wired to TC.
MacBook and iPad wireless to TC.
I went into every device on the network to ensure the same network name throughout.
I wonder if I have not configured the TC correctly in AirPort Utility. In Network Connection Details, the PC's IPv4 IP is the one that belongs to the ISP's modem, not the TC. I set the TC to connect using Ethernet and with Connection Sharing set to Off (Bridge Mode).
