well, apparently hackers managed to get into "admin dev accounts" so I am suspecting Sony took down the whole system to protect customer identity until they have patched the system.

Oh come on.. I don't see what the big deal about any of this is? Some stolen identification leading to fraud ? So what! I mean after all, sources say:
To be fair, Sony does apologize for the inconvenience.
So it's ALL GOOD !

*sniff... sniff sniff... * Does anybody smell that ? Smells like... like... a Class Action suit ! MMmmmmm Boy am I glad I don't have a PS. Hopefully Microsoft has better security in place.

I didn't say it couldn't happen to XBL.. I said I hope that MS has better security measures in place. As far as hearing it from the horses mouth... Do you REALLY think that Sony would be so fast to admit such a thing ? Of course they'll eventually have to give the public full disclosure, but I'm willing to bet that if they can cover it up, that's the route they'll take for as long as possible. Just the nature of the beast.

haha. its just that I am always a bit dubious of "third party news". They usually dont reference their sources.

The link I posted was directly from Sony, so I dont need to check to see if its true.

I like how they keep saying that they're unsure if credit information has been taken. I don't know how they're set up at Sony but I'm pretty sure that it's something that they should have been able to figure out by now. (I don't have a card on PSN so I'm not effected but I think it's just a funny thought).

I refuse to believe this until I see proof in the form of either Sony or the Government issuing a warning. Alot of these articles are scare-mongering.

Well, maybe this will be proof enough - I got this email this morning FROM PSN:

Just got that email too... unfortunately, I can't remove my credit card because I no longer have that actual numbered credit card on me anymore...sigh...too much work/effort talking to some outsourced indian worker. 3 hours spent on the phone, and so far, the only thing I remember from that is, "good evening sir!" It's MORNING on my side of the world(when I called him)!!

That's just it we have TWO PS3s in the house and I have no idea which credit card I used for either of them. In fact, I think I used two different ones for my son's system and a third one for mine!

Calling them turned out to be useless! They wouldn't do anything for me, even though I could recite almost every personal info to them. They said that they were on a heightened security level, and couldn't let people pass if they didn't know something. It's not my fault my account was created when the playstation network first went online, people forget, you know! I'm not going to do anything, to be honest. I tried, and Sony is handling everything as if someone shoved a stick up something of their. I'm not really sure what else there is for you to do.
