I was given this machine about 10 years ago by my former employer. I want to erase the hard drive and give away the computer or sell it, but when I go to Disk Utility, I cannot select anything under the erase tab. ;P And I have no start-up or operating system discs! Any help would be appreciated!

Some ways to do it:
1. Buy an OS X disk and use it to boot and wipe the drive.
2. Remove the hard drive, place it in a carrier, attach it to another computer and wipe it.
3. Hook the G4 to another Mac via firewire and use Target Disk Mode from the other Mac to wipe the drive on the G4.
