I'm not sure what I did, but every time I need to turn Airport on/off it asks me for my password. It didn't used to do this, something happened. It's actually been a while now, I've just now gotten around to posting on the forums. Any ideas how to get this deactivated?

Thanks,

You don't mention what kind of Mac you are using, but I'll go ahead and assume it is something fairly current and therefore has the same control menus that mine does...

Are you talking about one specific network that you use regularly or something?

For instance, if this is your home network and you want it to stop asking you for the Administrator password, click on the Airport icon at the top of your screen and choose Open Network Preferences. Click the button that says "Advanced" and choose the Airport tab and look at the check boxes at the very bottom. Make sure the one that says "Turn Airport on or Off" is not checked.

If your router is asking for the network password, you need to open the software that came with the router that controls its settings and tell it to remember/allow your computer.

If it is the network password it's asking for, while you're looking at the box of your preferred networks in the Advanced area of Network preferences - try removing all the networks listed, close out of preferences, open it back up and then re-add your home network.

I'm on a MacBook running 10.6.5

It's not a network password, it's requiring a password to even activate AirPort...as in I click on the triangle thing next to the volume indicator and click "Turn Airport On" and it asks me for my system password. This just started happening recently, and I'm not sure what I did.

Same thing when I go to turn it off as well. "Turn Airport Off" requests a password as well...

System Preferences - Network - highlight Airport - click Advanced - take the check marks out of everything listed under "Require administrator password to:".

After you've done that, click on the Apple in the corner and run Software Update.

Click on Network in System Preferences > Advanced > Airport and make sure the bottom radio button, Turn Airport on or Off is NOT selected under require password at the foot of the page.

Oh well...

lol... didn't read your response again today. I just "assumed" he would have tried your suggestions before posting back again. Yeah, yeah, I do know how to spell it.

Well the other two replies were not up when I started mine and repetition never hurts if the message is not getting through!

Oh, I know. I was more implying that the OP wasn't following instruction. Not so much implying you guys were repeating. :)
