Bluetooth finds the keyboard but is unable to pair it with the iMac. New batteries in the keyboard. Wish had bought the wired keyboard instead!

Do you have any other wireless BT devices operating in the house? Another wireless keyboard perhaps? You can always return the wireless keyboard to Apple for a new one if it should prove to be defective. Your iMac including the wireless keyboard is warranted for one year.

G'day and welcome to the forums.

For what it is worth, had yesterday the problem of a new wireless keyboard connecting but refusing to type etc. Solution was to go into System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse and somehow during the set up the Mouse Keys had become activated. Switched to 'Off' and no more problems. Have never struck this problem before setting up Bluetooth keyboards.

No other wireless keyboard. It does not take in the pass key that I enter through the keyboard. Have had connectivity issues in past with this wireless keyboard but this time even after several trials cannot pair them.

Tried universal settings - mouse keys were already turned off.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions?

I had this problem a few weeks ago. An Apple keyboard that worked fine in the past suddenly would not finish pairing. This went on for about three weeks before it started working again. I have no idea what changed.

Wireless keyboards seem to have a mind of their own. I've had the same problem before but it was due to interference from another device.

One reason why I keep my trusty Apple aluminum keyboard handy at all times.
