MS Office 11 Send To

I am using MS Office 11 and want to use the "Send To / Mail Recipient" feature. However I am using THunderbird for email and the option in MS Office (any office application) is inactive.

If I switch my default mailer to Mail then things work, but I don't want to use Mail because its LDAP service doesn't work properly in my environment.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

same as making firefox the default browsers has to be done through safari.

to make t.bird work as you wish you have to set it as the default through mail

Unfortunately that is not what I was asking. I already have Thunderbird as my default mailer. Office however does not activate the Send To Mail Recipient feature unless Mail is set to default or probably Entourage, neither of which I want to use for different reasons.
