Photoshop CS5 content aware PROBLEM

2.4Gb macbook
i am running Photoshop CS5 on my imac and until recently have had no problems. Today my content aware selection is faded out and I cannot get it back. i am only running CS5 and not anything else in the background. I do not think I have changed any settings and cannot find a way to reset CS5 back as it was. Can anyone throw any light on this please

At what stage of editing are you in? Has the item you're attempting to process been carried over from another program first and being converted to a .tiff or .psd file? Or is this just a random file you've opened ?

Could be any of a million things... take a screenshot, it may help shed some light on what could be the problem.
