You could get a receiver - maybe a Yamaha or how about a McIntosh preamp (older model on sale) and their brand new MC601 amplifier (600 watt, .0005 THD and only $13k).

Then a pair of Klipsch and a nice sub to go along with them.

Any decent setups for using the USB 2.0 ports? I am trying to think of a setup for my G5 tower. If i have to get a subwolfer thats okay too. I don't mind little speakers on the hutch table setup that i got.

I wouldn't use USB 2.0 speakers they don't sound decent unless u want to use the USB for power and a mini jack for the audio. The prob is the amp that they have is too weak and gets distorted even quarter of the way up.

I love my JBL Creature II speakers and sub, the quality of sound from them is just fantastic!

Ok thanks for the suggestions. I have been looking at the Altec Lansing 2100. And the jbl creature III Both on Amazon.com. I am currently using a old Boston acoustics BA635 that has a messed up sub. I hooked up a home theatre in a box sup to it but it's not as good. (receiver quit). For what I want to do. And it's mostly listening to music and some times it's converting videos from VHS to m4v

Get the speaker system you want but wattage plays a big role in dynamics rather than sheer volume technically you can run someone out of a room with 25 watts of good distorted volume. Music at the same volume level you are use to will usually sound better
if it has headroom.

I am a fan also of the Klipsch Promedia 2.1's. Only issue I have had after 5 years is the plug/jack on the back of the Sub is getting a bit flakey. Otherwise best computer speakers I have owned.

Still think for the bang for the buck these are hard to beat. Klipsch - ProMedia 2.1 Speaker System (3-Piece) - Black - KLIPSCH PRO

Those are great sounding speakers, but HIGHLY prone to subwoofer failure!!! I had the set myself and the subwoofer failed after a little over a year. Did some reading around, and found out this was a widely reported problem. Looked on eBay, and I was stunned to see how many dead subwoofers from this series were being sold there, and separately the working satellite speakers without a subwoofer.

My personal recommendation is for the Harman Kardon Soundsticks. The sound is excellent with really tight bass. I cannot praise these more highly.

I have the Harmon Kardon Soundsticks 2 (2.1) for many years on a PC now moved on to an iMac. Still give a wonderful music. However, I don't use them much of the time as AstoundSound (software) yields such a quality sound. I am not sure if notebooks speakers will be good enough though to make a difference.

Also it depends on the size of the room your in. I had a 50 watt 2.1 altec Lansing and they sounded good But when u turned them up they got distorted and u could hear it when u left the room. It's the same with the Boston acustics that I have now.

Mada81: Thanks a bunch for the newegg link. I have done a comparison between the Logitech Z523 and Z506 and the Z523 has advantages and you can't beat the price drop of the Z523.
Provantage: Product Comparison Chart

No prob. I like logitec speakers but I have been looking for some good ones but looking for somthing with a decent sub.
